Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) in New Zealand

The Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) is a key pathway for skilled professionals to work in New Zealand, contributing to the development of a highly skilled workforce, quality jobs, and high-value industries. This visa allows non-residents to work for an accredited employer in New Zealand for up to three years under specific conditions.

    Eligibility Criteria for AEWV

To qualify for an Accredited Employer Work Visa, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    1. Employment with an Accredited Employer

    • You must have a job offer from an employer who is accredited by Immigration New Zealand (INZ).
    • The offer must guarantee at least 30 hours of work per week.

    2. Relevant Qualifications and Experience

    • You must be suitably qualified through formal training, certifications, or relevant work experience to perform the job duties.

    3. Job Check Approval

    • The employer must have completed a Job Check with Immigration New Zealand, which verifies that:
      • The job has been advertised locally, and no suitable New Zealanders were available to fill the position.
      • The job offer meets New Zealand employment standards, including pay and working conditions.
    • The Job Check number associated with the position must not have been used to approve another AEWV application.

    4. Salary Requirements

    • If the salary offered is below the median wage, the following conditions apply:
      • The applicant must not be subject to a stand-down period (a required break after working for three years on a low-wage visa).
      • A sector agreement must be in place if applicable to the industry.

    Validity of the AEWV

    • Three Years: The AEWV is typically granted for up to three years.
    • Two Years: In cases where the salary is below the median wage or governed by a sector agreement, the visa may be issued for two years.

Steps to Apply for an AEWV

    1. Secure a Job Offer from an Accredited Employer

    • Confirm that the employer is accredited by checking the list of accredited employers provided by Immigration New Zealand.

    2. Ensure Job Check Approval
